Meditation: Mindful Body Awareness

The Dance Between Awareness, Tension, and Release.

The body isn’t just a physical form, it holds more than we realise. Every emotion, experience, and bit of energy we encounter finds its way into our body, often without us even noticing. There are areas where tension collects, the tightness in your shoulders, the stiffness in your back, or those spots that just feel numb. These physical sensations are your body’s way of communicating with you. By tuning in and becoming aware, you can start to notice these areas and release the tension.

Start by paying attention to your body. Notice the places that feel tight. These are the areas where tension is holding on. Then, notice the numb spots, those places that feel dull or inactive. Often, these areas are just waiting for a little attention and energy to become more alive, more connected to the rest of your body. When we breathe into these spaces, we’re not just filling our lungs, we’re creating space in the body, inviting energy back into the areas that need it most.

Tension builds when we store emotions, stress, and experiences in certain parts of our body. If we don’t address this tension, it can eventually show up as discomfort or even pain. But you don’t have to wait for it to manifest physically. By bringing awareness to these areas and breathing into them, you can release the tension before it becomes something more permanent. This process helps to bring balance, harmony, and vitality back to the body.

Meditation: Release, Breathe, and Create Space

As you read these words, allow your body to relax.

Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs with air, up into your shoulders, neck, and back

and exhale slowly, releasing any tension you may be holding.

Let your breath be natural, steady, and calming.

Now, bring your awareness to your body.

Start by noticing your breath, the rise and fall of your chest and belly with each inhale and exhale.

Feel the rhythm of your breath and the sensation of being you - grounding you in the present moment, within the space around you.

As you continue breathing, gently scan your body.

Notice any areas where tension or tightness might be stored, in your shoulders, throat, or back. Maybe your hands and feet, hips and glutes, even your jaw.

Inhale deeply into these areas, imagining the breath expanding and creating space.

Exhale slowly, feeling the weight of the tension release with each breath.

Let your breath move freely through your body, finding areas that feel tight or stiff.

Let it play and explore, and scan.

Breathe into these places, giving them attention and space.

On your exhale, let go, and relax. Dropping the weight carried by the breath.

Now, shift your focus to any numb or disconnected areas.

These are the parts of you that may need a little more energy.

Inhale deeply and imagine the breath filling those spaces, bringing them back to life.

Stimulating and activating the nerves.

Exhale, and with each release, feel them waking up, becoming more connected to your body.

Maintaining any new sensations.

Allow yourself to notice any emotions that arise, frustration, discomfort, or tension.

Rather than trying to change them, allow them to be.

Notice where they are physically located and breathe into them.

Let them shift and transform with each breath.

Feel the energy begin to flow through your entire body, gently expanding and radiating outward with each inhale.

Exhale and feel yourself letting go, becoming lighter, more relaxed, and at ease.

Imagine the glow of raditating energy around your entire body expanding with breathe and awareness.

Visualise your spine as a central channel of energy, breathing up and down its length seamlessly.

From the crown of head, to the throat, the heart space, solar plexus / the gut, through the pelvis and to the base of the spine. And then back up.

Let the energy flow through you.

Now, feel the energy surrounding you, expanding beyond your body, connecting you to the space around you.

Let your awareness grow, tuning into the world around you, while staying deeply connected to yourself.

In this space, find balance.

Ease and focus dance together, guiding you into a state of calm, stillness, and renewal.
