Choose Something Different

Exhausting the same day. I’m not sure we’re built for this type of repetition and routine. And although consistency is important for development and change, change and development need to be integrated into the consistency.
It’s ok to adapt and do things differently. As much as we like to stick the familiar because it’s comfortable or gets us the results that we want to get, it’s only natural for the creativity to change us and therefore change the creation. That’s the main point of the creativity — to change us through the creation so we that we keep creating and creating differently.
This applies to everything, especially life in general. In every moment, we have the opportunity, the window and time to show up differently, to experiment with our character and the external world in a playful and curious way. Especially if we’re used to the same day and the same experiences over and over.
In those moments, imagination can feel like a daunting overwhelming task compared to the autopilot way of functioning, when really it’s quietly but very loudly screaming into the void, the emptiness of stagnancy and repetition. It’s strangely overwhelming in the most underwhelming way possible.
And when we reach those moments, the only thing to do is to choose differently. A sliver of difference, something so minor it might feel like a joke. For example, resisting the natural reflex to say something you always say or do something you always do. Resisting all natural reflexes in those moments and using your imagination and excitement to lead to you to do something that will bring in a little more adrenaline and life into the day and the moment.
Choosing differently, remembering the choice is mine each time and in each moment.
